Cooking with love

I'm cooking prawn fried rice for dinner tomorrow!  I prepared / chopped / julienned the ingredients so when I finish work, all I have to do is bring out the raw material from the fridge.  ^_____^
  • Prawn
  • Red cabbage
  • French beans
  • Eggs
  • Canned tuna in water
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Brown rice (left overnight in the fridge)
  • Lots of love for myself (cheers for choosing to cook healthy food!!!)
I thought of adding carrot (not my favorite) and/or pineapple but I'm scared if it is going to be like...  too many flavor in a palate?  Maybe pineapple (always goes well with prawn kan?).  Will get a nenas then!

Anyway, the neighbor's daugther is crying again.  Sometimes I like to think that there is a orang kerdil family living in the wall, so that what's I heard is actually the orang kerdil's daugther cries.  Hmm...

Thank You, Part 1

A thank you note from weheartit
LouLou theCat woke me up at 5.30am because he wanted to have a super early breakfast.  Yeah, 5.30am is not exactly my wakeup time.  I would prefer to get out of the bed at 8, 9am any given day.

But then again, I am glad to be alive.  Yes, it is the 3rd week of 2011.  I am still breathing, how can I not be grateful?

I cannot remember the details of what I have been doing for the 1st 19 days of 2011.  When my sister texted me about a pair of shoes that we saw last Christmas, I have just realized that I have not been into the mall for almost a month!

Anyway, I am happy staying at this (new) place.  Especially when I have a helpful neighbor who will collect my laundry when the God of Rain decided to pee on that beautiful day; report to me how Shorty was doing (he cried the moment you're out of his sight; he was very quiet and ignoring people; he was barking at LouLou who was sneaking into the other neighbor's porch, et cetera).

Alright, time to get ready to work.  Tata!

Twisted tougue

I was listening to a radio station in which a deejay made a prank call to a guy.  So while they were squabbling, this guy replied “You are **r**a**c**e** from where?  Your tongue-twisting technique is very good.

This is not the first time I listened to such remark.  I have heard it in the workplaces, within my neighborhood, random strangers in the coffee shops…

When I just moved into the current place, the landlady told me that the next-door neighbor asked her not to lease the house to **r**a**c**e**.  Alright, I bet she would not tell me about purported request if I was a/an **r**a**c**e**, would she?

An auntie living across the street once complained to me that some **r**a**c**e** boys always teasing Shorty, making him to bark incessantly.  But he is easily agitated by anyone especially those walking with their furkids (read: dog) anyway.

Does it affect me?  I mean the **r**a**c**e** thing.

Honestly, I become very cautious when I have to deal with **r**a**c**e**.  Except the young boys who bring Rascal to see Shorty almost every day.  The friendly brothers are very polite and greet me “Hello auntie!” every time they see me.

Honey, I bring work to home!

I was watching Shorty running around the car porch in the wee hour today. Oh yeah, I need to soothe him before I can go back to sleep. That crazy dog! So while waiting for him to finish his short-series marathon, I saw my neighbor came home from work.

Just the day before, I brought back my work to home so that I can review the documents in my most comforting state: wearing sleepwear, coffee on the table, and playing my favorite music. So comforting that instead of reading the stuff, I surf internet and eat kuih kapit!

Back to the neighbor. See, she is working from 6pm to 2am. I think she does not have to bring stacks of paperwork to finish at the end of the shift. Well, unless, she got a plan or a report to read. But really, I think the chance of Shorty catching geckos is far greater than seeing her with a report.

I seldom bring home my work assignment unless it is really urgent i.e. expected to be on Boss’ desk before he comes in. Actually, I feel more stressful bringing the work home than leaving it at the office for tomorrow.

Enough about work.

What is on the TV now?

Neighbors

The Star Online
Throwing faeces.  Burning flags.  Shouting like a drunk idiot.  To me, all these are the signs of a third world mentality.  True, action speaks louder than word.  But most of the time, in the stillness of silence, one is able to reflect and learn about the matters.  As for me, I am still learning to manage my angers, trying not to explode over a silly matter like when a housemate did not put the footwear when it is supposed to be.  Or when someone in the office who shamelessly steal your canned drinks.

Regardless of the tension between Malaysia and Indonesia created by some groups, I maintain a good relationship with a few Indonesians I know.  For instant, the neighbor’s maid who I regularly see in the evening, she is as friendly and helpful as her employer.  So much better than the other neighbour who always avoids eye contact with me.

You see, I am not the instant puppy-like hyper-friendly type of person.  I usually warm up quite slow; from just simple “hello” to maybe few lines of “just come back from work?”  Almost as timid as a mouse when it comes to getting to know strangers but sometimes regarded as unfriendly/snooty.  Nevertheless, the silent neighbor has the rights to appear invisible in front of us.

Some neighbors are friendly to each other and communicate with each other – like me; I bonded with my neighbors through our dogs.  Some, however, want to keep their solitude and avoid making contact with you (for reasons that I do not know).  While some might just the ones you greet “hi” and quickly disappear into the house (reason: unknown).

What kind of neighbor you think we are to Indonesia?
(I need to digest this question carefully.)

Calling Shorty, calling me

My neighbor was looking for me yesterday but since she don't know my name, she called for Shorty instead!  :D

We were in the house at the time so this crazy short-legged boy began to cry as he wanted to see the lady.  Naturally, I have to open the door to let him out.  And being a polite neighbor, I came out from the house as well to greet not just one, but two other lovely ladies and a teh-C colored pug (who was busy pee-fighting with Shorty while we girls were having a conversation).

There were many accounts where the neighbors called me by using Shorty's name.  And most all of them are dog owners.  Like them, I don't know their names too, but funnily enough, I know their pets names!

By the way, I gave my name card to the neighbor.  I told her "just in case for emergency".  LOL!  Now she knows my name.  {wink}

10 tablespoons

5 tablespoons in the morning and another 5 in the evening.  That is the amount of dry food that my neighbor gives to Marvin daily.  :o

I was talking to the other neighbor whom own a pack of dogs of different breeds when Marvin and his human friend had a walk around the neighborhood.  I saw him inside of the house before, but this time I had a very upclose look on him.  He is very skinny for any Golden Retriever standards!  Way, way too thin!

Even LouLou the fat cat is being fed more than that!  But this Marvin boy looks so happy despite being underfed and politely greeted Shorty and Boss (my neighbor's black pug) who were busy pee-fighting at my gate.  I always love Golden Retriever for their good manners and their golden-coated big body (nice to hug).  So naturally I feel sad when I see one like Marvin.

Luckily Boss' owner is never too stingy and fed Marvin whenever she saw him with an empty bowl.  Poor Marvin!  While me sometimes struggling to nag Shorty to finish his food...

Shorty's Mama

My neighbor's son was playing with Shorty this morning.  He is just one head taller than Shorty.  Both look adorable:  the boy with his kindy uniform and large school bag; and Shorty with his usual sunny self.  I was watching them from the living room while having my morning coffee.

Just as I went out of the house, the boy told their maid:  "Mama dia sudah keluar" and stood at their gate watching me.  Hah!  You'd hit the jackpot, young man.  I am the mama.  (:  And the next door neighbor use Shorty to pacify his daughter whom was crying as he was about to leave home.

Shorty!  Never short of admirers!

Now where are we?

The boys are still excited about the new place.  They keep running in and out, and around the house.  I hope I have a boundless energy and enthusiasm like them.  By the way, the opposite neighbor have 7 dogs in all sizes!  My godness!

But despite their difference in sizes, I can generally say that they are too well overfed.  When I saw the tall one (sorry, I am illiterate when it comes to dogs breed), I thought she/he is pregnant (I need to verify on this one too).  Not until I met the other 5 smaller and shorter comrades of it.  So round, as shapeless as a bolster!  I took Shorty out to meet them today.  Well, I was supposed to introduce them earlier but it was raining in the past few days.

Few units away from me is another white Labrador (I think it is a Labrador) whom got excited to see us passing by the neighborhood street.  Geez!  These dogs makes me envy about their perspective of life.  Dogs say:  "If there's a new comer in the street, greet them and try to sniff them eventhough you're tied to gate / locked in the cage."  Me, I get tongue-tied whenever I see my neighbors.  All I do is smile while my mind is racing to think the appropriate line.

Anyway,  LouLou was attacked right at the car porch last night.  That stupid big cat.  You think your ancestor own the street huh?  My little boy is new to the place and if you don't welcomed him here, stay far, far away.  Why need to launch an attack!?  Ah, this really worried me because I don't want to keep them in the house.  Last night I let him sleep in the house as I don't want the fat intruder to disturb him.

My boys!

His name is Shorty

I read "Pets: What Your Dog's Name Says About You" this morning.  So am I indirectly indicating that I am short?  What if I am not?

I named him 'Shorty' because he got short, fat legs.  But overall, he is a very sweet kid who will befriended almost every human.  He wags at my neighbor, June, who nicknamed him "Lui Lui".  Lui means a girl in Cantonese.  When I was just moved in to the neighborhood, she and another lady asked if he's a girl!  He still have his two-balls attached to him but it was hidden under the bushy butt.  And I admit his sunny-side up attitude sometimes makes him looks more like a girl than a tough, macho guy.  Nevertheless, he is still a little devilish boy who always drag me tirelessly during our walks.

I still cannot figure out what his name says about me, but I can say, I made friends with the neighbors partly because we talked about our common pet - dogs.

Stepping on my pussy tail

A neighbor's guest (let us called them the Idiots) blocked the entrance to my house much to my irritation.  Someone with a sensible judgment would not do such thing when they can clearly see Shorty sitting in the car porch which means that the house is not vacant!  Oh!  Perhaps the Idiots thought that I only ride a motorbike, therefore I should have no problem getting into the house.  So wrong, so wrong!!!

Being quite easily ticked by people with low mentality, high stupidity and extreme ignorance, I did something I think I would not do: park my car next to the Idiots' and deliberately left barely one-inch space!  The Idiots' car is bigger, more costly than mine so...  go figure, hahaha!  I regrets of not doing a grander damage not-artistic graffiti (i.e. I love to scribble on cars like yours, XOXO!).  If the Idiots are repeating it in the future, I think I will switch to my bitchiest mode.

Yoga & Smoky Day

My palm is still a little painful.  I guess it must be from lifting/supporting myself during the yoga session.  Speaking of yoga, this is my first class of the year; I have been procrastinating to rejoin the class since last December.  Even the yoga instructor lamented that I had been absent for quite a long period!  I almost forgotten the Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) which I love so much, just to justify that I had abondon my yoga practice for an unintended time.

By the way, my lovely neighbor paid a gardener to mow his lawn.  After that, he burnt the grass.  Lovely, huh?!  The weather was super hot and the smoke was just making everything so not superly alright to me.  The last thing I want to get when I am back to home is being "smoked" and choked.  Superly inconsiderate lovely neighbor!
