My love affair

I love my coffee and regardless how many times my mom reminds me that I should reduce the consumption, I am still drinking it like a fish especially when I am not occupied with anything!

Recently someone’s relative was admitted to the hospital because there was something wrong with her glucose level. That did not alarm me; but the fact that she is very much a heavy coffee drinker (like me!) makes me think. The doctor told her that the caffeine could have contributed to the irregular glucose.

At first I snickered at the idea of linking coffee with diabetes. No way! I protested and suggested that it could be too much of sugar in the drinks. Well, I am taking sugarless coffee (for almost a year) and I thought I am protecting myself from the risk of diabetes. Not so. I referred to few studies on coffee and diabetes (see the links below). I am surprised!

Ooh well, I believe I still can enjoy my coffee (act of self-defense) – if I am taking it moderately.

Kuih Bulan / Mooncake / 月饼

< white flag >
My sister wants me to write something in Dusun / Lunbawang language.  I can't even construct a full sentence.  Failed miserably.
< / white flag >

Anyway, I received 2 mooncakes at work yesterday - a single yolk & a double yolk pure lotus.  If I had known I will get not just one but 2(!!!), I would not buy one for myself last week.  But I should not be complaining about it because I bought a double yolk pure lotus at RM11.20 after a 30% discount.  Bleghhh!!!  I feel like I am becoming more like auntie-auntie because I always look for cheap bargain, even if I have to wait.  But we girls have to be smart right?  ^_____^

< sigh >
Why the week is moving very slow?  It is only Wednesday...

Things I like: Icy pink cupcakes

Image from ~Sweet Pricess Viemer ^^,

I am not a cupcake (or any other cakes, as a matter of fact) lover.
But I love to see the design!
It got me bursting in PINK!!!

Cheeky Monday

This one song has all the cheesy lines in it and this particular part got me laughing every time I heard it on air:
I wanna buy ya everything
except cologne
'cause it's poison
It makes me wonder whether he too, suffering from headache if he sniffed on fragrance.

But apart from the cheesy-cheesy part, I like the chorus:
And if I'm addicted to loving you
And you're addicted to my love too
We can be them two birds of a feather
That flock together
Love, love
Got to have something to keep us together
Love, Love
That's enough for me

Counting the hours left...

Roughly about 3 and a half hours before I hit the road home!

Yay to Monday!!!

The other hot thing (part 2)

Image taken from perfectionturnsmeon
I survived drinking just one black coffee (without sugar) per day from Monday to Friday.  On Saturday I took one coffee with sweetened condensed milk.  Not so sinful because it just one cup (although you might scream at the “sweetened” word).  By Sunday I succumbed to the temptation: 3 coffees.  As if that is not bad enough, I had them all with sugar!!!  I didn’t actually finish the last cup (I think I was distracted by something and left it cold) but still, it contains sugar.

How do you resist any form of temptations?

The other hot thing

My family and close friends know just how addicted I am to coffee.  My mom, for example, has been trying unsuccessfully to convince me to reduce my coffee intake.  She said that too much of it is why I cannot gain weight.  We don’t know how true that is.  However, I’m well aware that caffeine is a common ingredient in cellulite remover.

Mom’s advice fell on my deaf ears and I, of course, still drink coffee as frequent as I like.  The taste, the aroma, and the time I spend enjoying a hot mug of coffee are almost as positive as the benefits of drinking it.

I might not be reducing the amount of coffee I drink everyday, but am definitely cutting down sugar.  Last time I used to add 2(!!!!!) teaspoons but eventually managed to lessen to less than half a teaspoon per mug.  Somehow I still need to go with zero-sugar coffee because sugar is not needed in our diet.  Imagine if I’m consuming 4 mugs a day, which could add up to 2 teaspoons of sugar!

I’m not sure why I want to talk about coffee, sugar…  Perhaps because my colleagues are fasting for a month starting from today, so I’m somewhat more conscious of drinking/eating in front of them.  Perhaps too, since I’m not done with my blood sampling yet, I want to reduce sugar intake to get better glucose reading (self-cheating, so to speak).

Anyway, selamat berpuasa to all Muslim friends!

Wordless Tuesday

I am in the mood of writing although I have nothing to say actually. Yeah, the other day I was tempted to write about someone who got under my skin. But then again, I was thinking, that someday when I hit the old age I want to read something from the younger me which reminds me of a good time, a good friend, a good pet, a good food, a good place… Basically all the goodies stuff.  Besides, I believe that the person have no intention of doing so if he/she know that it blew me up; perhaps it is in their genes, you know, being nosey and all.

I also don't want to take the risk of them red-flagging me.  :o

Anyway, the office hour is almost over now.

I'm thinking what's for dinner tonight...

Changes

Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...
Airplanes by B.O.B. ft. Hayley Williams
I was busy packing away my stuff.  Most of the stuff are something that I can live without but it either holds a priceless unique memory, or too wasteful to be dumped.  So my solution is: some are given to others whom I think will benefits from it; some are thrown away because I really can't see where I can fit it; and some are just lucky to find their ways into my "not-so-junk box".

Back then, I would stupidly pack every single thing without even thinking twice.  So imagine if I move few times every few years...  Those growing junks are trailing along my way!  I guess the older I get, the more "cincai" I am.  Cincai in a sense that I don't mind giving away my stuff for free (or at a non-profitable charges) when I don't need it.  And I am happy to see that I now have lesser stuff to transfer than what I have when I moved in last year.

Did I learnt not to feel attached to the materials?  Yes, because I found my happiness elsewhere and it is not branded with something like Ikea, Samsung, Akemi, Roxy, Sony Ericsson, La Senza...  It is just a feeling inside me.

Sunny Shorty

Shorty told me to be on the sunny spot as he is:
"I chased the beautiful butterfly at the roadside
I had had some fun
It makes me forget my sorrow for a while
that you (have to) put me behind the closed gate when you're out to cari makan"

Shorty, how I adore you!

Sweet thing

“There is nothing permanent except change.” - Heraclitus of Ephesus quotes (Greek philosopher remembered for his cosmology, 540-480BC)

The office pantry ran out of sugar the other day, forcing me to:

  • Take gingko barley with beancurd from a birthday party leftover (super less sugar)
  • Make a black coffee but...
  • Have to ask Whoelses for her condensed milk because I really, really need some sweetness!
Back at home, my Equal also almost finish but I think I will drink tea instead of the usual before-going-to-bed hot coffee:
  • Less sugar, more healthy.
  • Less sugar, save $$$ (although not much but still...  it's a $$$.)
One mini change a day/week/month...  Do you think I need to be more disciplined?
